Fazilat Soukhakian Imagemaker Presentation
Saturday, November 02 - 9:45AM to 10:00AM
de Saisset Museum Auditorium
Throughout this presentation I will be discussing my two recent photographic projects: "Queer in Utah" and "Defiance."
"Queer in Utah" showcases how the new generation of LGBTQ LDS (Mormons) is changing the course of its historic struggle between their sexual identity and the conflicts with their religious beliefs, by publicly acting on their sexuality while still practicing those beliefs. Despite the Church's strict teachings, they are determined in their pursuit of love.
"Defiance" investigates people in a variety of cultures around the world who rebel(led) against authority, culture or tradition, standing up for their beliefs, pushing for change in their own way.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
Please join the conversation.
