Understanding Professional Cultures Through Teaching Business
Professional photographer, writer, and designer, and teach a class in business practices at Pasadena City College. I also teach workshops in business and digital workflow, and spent six years in leadership positions in ASMP, both local and national. Publications include a 3,000-word profile of fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky for Photo Media Magazine; work in ASMP's Professional Business Practices in Photography; and three chapters (21,000 words) of interviews with 32 photographers in the ASMP Guide To New Markets In Photography (Allworth Press, 2012). Recent speaking includes panel member for BOLD Symposium at Art Center and a presentation on architectural photography for Los Angeles Digital Imaging Group. I also publish a blog devoted to business practices for creatives: www.barryschwartznotbarryschwartz.com.
