Daniel Mirer currently resides in Brooklyn New York where he works as an artist/photographer and educator. Mirer received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute (1989) and his Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the California Institute of the Arts (1992). Mirer has participated in prestigious artist residency programs including the Whitney Museum of American Art's Independent Study Program (1997), the Bronx Museum of the Arts' Artists in the Marketplace (1998), Regional Central American & Caribbean Contemporary Arts Forum in Honduras (1999) and the Starry Night Artist Residence in New Mexico (2014). Daniel Mirer along with other international artist had recently received through project leader Professor Katharina Bosse two start-up funding grants from the German government, Kunststiftung (Art Foundation) North Rhine Westphalia (2014) & Landesverband Westfalen-Lippe (Foundation for the Region of Westfalia-Lippe (2013) to begin the creation of a body of work titled "Thingsttten in Deutschland." Mirer was also the recipient of the New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for photography (2002) and the Dana Artist Fellowship for continuing education (1989).
Throughout Mirer's career as an artist he had participated in many speaking engagements some of which where Northeast Regional Conference, The Society for Photographic Education, Ubiquity vs. the Sublime works from Thingsttten in Deutschland Photography Installation Presentation. (2014) Museum Presentation, Muybridge Revisited in the 21st Century, The Heckscher Museum of Art (2014) Artist Presentation for the photography project Thingsttten (Thing cult), The department of International Cultural Relations of NRW KULTUR sekretariat in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany (2014) Artist Presentation, Leiden University Libraries, Acquisition of artwork "ArchitorSpace" to the library collection, artist presentation of images. (2014) Department Presentation and Workshop for the School of Communications, Webster University, Leiden, Netherlands. Invited artist to present an artist lecture and photography workshop. Workshop had covered a brief history of photography within urban spaces and the photographic critique. (2014) Visiting Artist and Department Presentation, invited as a visiting Lecturer for one week to give class instruction and conduct student critiques, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minnesota (2013) Artist talk and Artist Presentation, Regents Collage, London, England (2013) Artist talk for Design Bridge in Amsterdam, Netherlands (2012) and an Artist presentation for the College of Architecture, Design and Communication, Auburn University, Rome, Italy campus (2012).

Mirer has taught photography at higher education institutions in the United States and in Europe including Fashion Institute of Technology (2008-2010), Brooklyn College (2007-2008), Ramapo College (2005-2007) and Ohio State University (2003). In Europe Mirer had been an Adjunct Instructor of Photography at Tampere Polytechnic School of Art & Media in Tampere, Finland (2000-2003) and at Webster University in Leiden, the Netherlands (2011-2013). Daniel Mirer is currently an Assistant Professor of photography at Long Island University, POST.
