Even when a body of photographs speaks explicitly to the experiences of a specific group of people at a particular time and place, their form and style may invoke specific external contexts that aid in their reading. What is the relationship between photographic narrative, photographic style, and the photographer’s instincts for how a story should best be told? How do formal decisions locate a body of work and ask the viewer to understand a place in a particular way?
