Grace Between the Lines
Friday, October 17 - 2:45PM to 3:15PM
Multipurpose Room (1-030)
Working as a medical photographer at a craniofacial clinic in Dallas, I saw children with congenital deformities, visually documenting their progress from surgery to surgery, watching them grow, surrounded with care and love. Joining the LEAP foundation on the mission to Zimbabwe, I faced a different reality: children with birth defects and their families were rejected by the society, blamed to bring bad luck to others, being called cursed and bewitched. Combined with unstable economic situation, social position extended the problem beyond the medical condition.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
