Jorge Ariel Escobar (b. 1994) is a queer Latinx image-maker based in Milwaukee, WI, where he is a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His photographic practice explores intimacy, desire, and the fleeting nature of queer connection, often centering chance encounters between queer men. Escobar received an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BFA from James Madison University. His work has been exhibited at Filter Space (Chicago, IL), Candela Gallery (Richmond, VA), and Soho Photo Gallery (New York, NY), and is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
