Cosumnes River Canoe Excursion

Eliza Gregory

Friday, November 06 - 1:00PM to 4:00PM
Cosumnes River Preserve

Come canoeing on the only undammed river on the western side of the Sierras!

Eliza Gregory, Assistant Professor of Photography and Social Practice at Sacramento State University invites you to canoe along the Consumes River, 20 minutes south of Sacramento. Each year, Sac State Photo students experience this chance to immerse themselves in one of the remarkable ecosystems in our bioregion. Photo equipment will be kept safe in dry bags—no need to make pictures unless you feel comfortable doing so. This trip is about opening yourself to the world again, so that photographs leap out at you, and your senses wake up. Stoke your curiosity through connecting with a place and its many lives—naturalist and environmental educator Bill Beckett will be our guide, and knows all the bird calls. Moderate activity level—no experience necessary. Wear clothing appropriate for canoeing. Bring a change of clothes, water, snacks, and sun protection. Cameras welcome but not mandatory.
