Private/Public is a panel discussion between contemporary lens-based artists and educators of diverse identities that use photography to document intimacy in their personal life. The panel will address the ways that consent, trust, identity, performance, truth, context, and audiences(real and imagined) impact the decisions made in their practice of making work considering a public eye. Panelists will share the nuances of their experiences facing ethical gray areas and unprecedented situations where their decisions have lasting social impact on themselves, their subjects, their communities, and the public discourse.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
