In response to the lack of affordable pinhole camera kits on the market, I partnered with our on-campus Fab Lab to create an accessible, low-cost kit. Originally developed to support my historical photographic processes course, the kit enables students to explore the fundamentals of pinhole photography while gaining hands-on insight into the basic components and mechanics of a camera.
This workshop will share our collaborative design process, and explore the broader opportunities the project has generated—including community workshops, take-home Fab Lab kits, and student recruitment initiatives.
Participants in the workshop will assemble their own pinhole camera from the kit and receive access to the laser-cutting file for future use. Please note: space may be limited due to material constraints.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
Please join the conversation.
