In the age of AI, analog photography has never been more important. In this pedagogical talk, Christine Lee Smith shares insights from her experience teaching an experimental class on alternative analog in Spring 2025 within the context of a predominantly digital curriculum. She reflects on her pre-semester thesis on the course's value for students, evaluates the effectiveness of assignments, and presents student feedback from the end of the semester. Smith argues for the unique importance and transformative role of analog practice when positioned alongside digital methods for student success in the classroom and beyond in our changing, rapidly AI-integrated world.
