As a political research-based artist, I use photography to explore the nuances of contemporary sociopolitical systems and power dynamics, drawing inspiration from Marcel Duchamp's concept of "infrathin." Following the opposing campaigns of two mayoral candidates from 2018 to 2022, my project "The Political Theater" aims to uncover the subtle complexities underlying Taiwan's dramatic political landscape. Through a balance of immersion and observation from the periphery, this work offers a glimpse into the machinations of modern democracy from the perspective of an ordinary citizen, revealing the spectrum of ambiguity and interstitial spaces that manifest in the pursuit of electoral success.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
