This workshop will help photographic educators create an inclusive classroom and relevant course materials that better serve the needs of BICPOC, queer, and disabled students. The presentation will encourage the view that equity in the classroom relies on knowledge and practice of intersectional pedagogy in the context of every student's unique experiences with discrimination and privilege. Session information will offer photographic educators a toolkit for reworking course materials and syllabi to create a classroom that decentralizes straight, white, able-bodied perspectives and practices within the medium and its corresponding pedagogical materials.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
