In this work I am photographing 104 cities included in "The Yellow Book," a 1955 government document plotting initial urban interstate routes. These highways often cleaved through minority communities, exposing how systemic racism impacted urban design. I strive to delve into the tangible consequences of these highways, intertwining with society through segregation, geography, gentrification, homelessness, and industry. By documenting all 104 cities, I aim to construct a comprehensive survey, revisiting the interstates' influence 68 years later. This project unveils how these roadways transformed each city and the lives of its residents.
