Big cameras, smart kids, and smelly chemicals: mixing chemistry and tintype photography in a high-school STEM lab.

William Nieberding

Thursday, March 21 - 10:00AM to 11:00AM
Majestic C

What happens when you teach a bunch of high school chemistry kids a little bit about 4x5 cameras, portraiture, and tintype photography, then turn them loose to make pictures? Pretty good things apparently.

This lecture/discussion will describe the evolution of a collaborative arts-integration project developed by a high school chemistry teacher, a college art professor, and a group of enthusiastic sophomore STEM students.
