Clare Benson is a photographer and interdisciplinary artist from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She is the recipient of awards including a Fulbright Fellowship to Arctic Sweden, PDN's Emerging Photographer, and grants from the American Scandinavian Foundation and the Lois Roth Endowment. Her book, The Shepherd's Daughter, was published in 2017 by Photolucida, in receipt of the Critical Mass Book Award. Benson earned her Master of Fine Arts from University of Arizona, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Michigan University. Her work has been exhibited, screened, and featured in publications across the US and internationally, and is held in private collections and institutions including the Norton Museum of Art and the Center for Creative Photography. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Photography and Video at University of Connecticut.
