The photobook has always played a significant role within the photographic landscape; books are a widely accessible, democratic medium, and they are the vehicle through which many of us discovered fine art photography. In this panel, three artists will speak about their recently-published photobooks, including the content of the work itself as well as their experiences working with different publishers: MACK, Saint Lucy Books, and Gnomic Book. While each artist's work is unique, there are themes of identity, mining personal narratives, engaging with emotional and psychological experiences through photography, examining history, and utilizing text in combination with photographs.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
