The Fourth Estate features newspaper offices across my home state of Kansas. As our personal, social, and political lives are marked by increasing division driven by national voices, I seek to honor these local newspapers and the individuals who steward them. The photographs create collective portrait of the state, are a tribute to those working in the industry, and an acknowledgement of the critical role newspapers play in our country's democracy.
