Nihighan: Our Home will explore and celebrate my reconnection to land, language, and community which has resulted in a new perspective of cultural expression and creative advocacy.
Upon returning home in 2018, I had the opportunity to see and record life on the reservation from a new point of view. The notion of home is no longer bound by border, state, or county but is instead inspired by k'é, hózhó, and iiná - kinship, beauty, balance, and life. Select images will reference my role as an artist, employee, and citizen of the Navajo Nation while highlighting concepts of visual sovereignty, creative placemaking, and Diné cultural teachings.
