Create valuable relationships within the photographic community while decreasing the cost of the SPE annual conference experience!
SPE is looking for committed student members to participate as volunteers at the annual conference. With behind-the-scenes access, volunteering provides students the opportunity to spark conversations with presenters, portfolio reviewers and colleagues from throughout the country, expanding their network of contacts in the world of photography.
Volunteering at the SPE annual conference can be the introduction to a wealth of professional opportunities. Relationships established as student volunteers have led to exhibition opportunities, artist residencies, job placements, graduate school selections, publication opportunities, mentorships and in addition, have been the catalyst for lifelong friendships.
Volunteers assist in pre-conference and conference activities including lectures, the silent auction and the raffle, portfolio reviews, offsite tours, registration, the exhibits fair, and much more. Each volunteer is required to attend a two-hour mandatory training session, and work six hours spread over the conference.
Volunteers who attend the training session and fulfill their required hours will receive a full rebate on their student conference registration six to eight weeks after the conference.
Duties may vary depending on conference needs. Volunteers will receive detailed instructions for assignments during Volunteer Training.
Pre-Conference – Unpack boxes, assemble name badges, organize attendee bag materials.
Registration – Check in pre-conference registrations, register onsite attendees, generate name badges, assist with registration/conference questions, support SPE store.
Presentations – Help speakers with audio/visual/lighting needs, check attendee name badges, fill out conference session slips.
