Columbia College Chicago and Heartland Alliance have joined forces to create the Diane Dammeyer Fellowship in Photographic Arts & Social Issues, a $25,000 award now in its 3rd year. The project mentors and current Fellow will discuss the immersive experiences afforded the photographer within these communities that invites the artist to produce a new, original and compelling body of photographic work that creates a meaningful connection between subject, audience, and community. The panel will also discuss practical and philosophical approaches that highlight how photography can be in service to social justice while creating new entrepreneurial models of practice and engagement.
