Lauren Henkin was born in Washington D.C.and grew up in Maryland. Henkin has a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.
Her work is in over twenty institutional collections including Cleveland Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, Smith College Museum of Art, Brown University's Bell Gallery among others. In addition to this, Yale University and many publications including New York Magazine, Oxford American and the Washington Post have acquired her prints.
She is the co-founder and editor of the Finch, an artistic journal, and in 2010 she founded Vela Noche, a publisher of fine-press and artistic books.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
