What began as a simple question in 1982 became the impetus for Weathering Time – “What would it be like to photograph myself every day and watch myself grow older?” Sometimes friends and family are in the photographs; time weathers their bodies as well. My body isn’t the only thing that changes: fashion and hairstyles evolve; pets come and go; typewriters, analog clocks, and telephones with cords disappear; and finally, film gives way to digital and the computer replaces the darkroom.
I will talk about the evolution of this project alongside newer work that continues my interest in the passage of time and loss.
