The primary objectives of this panel is to examine the breath and complexity of immigration issues specific to the United States - Mexico border, Latino immigrant communities within the United States and the nations from which people migrate. Through images, discussion and debate the panelists, who work both north and south of the border will explore mainstream presentation of immigration issues and specifically how both factual and fictional narratives are constructed in service of specific political ambitions. In doing so the panelists aspire to humanize individual immigrant circumstances and problematize the portrayal of contemporary immigration issues.
