"Regarding India" is an ongoing series of more than 60 videotaped interviews with Indian artists initiated in 2011 for my course on Contemporary Indian Art at the University of Connecticut. The artists I will feature, Ravi Agarwal and Dinesh Khanna, are leading photographers in India whose work focuses on issues of urbanization and the environment. Agarwal, who represented India in Documenta 11, is an environmental activist and founder of the NGO Toxics Link. Khanna's popular weekly photo column, "Urban Trivia" in New Delhi's First City Magazine, chronicles "India's uneven tryst with urbanization." He is the co-founder and director of the Nazar Foundation,a non-profit photography trust, and co-initiator of the biennial Delhi Photo Festival.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
