Daniel Kariko with Michael Oliveri and Jeff Whetstone
Friday, March 07 - 1:00PM to 2:45PM
Holiday 2-3
Panelists Daniel Kariko, Michael Oliveri, and Jeff Whetstone create artwork using Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) ordinarily used for scientific imaging. The panel will address multidisciplinary approaches to creating photographic images and videos using scientific equipment, often in dialogue and collaboration with scientists. The panelists will share their own work resulting from such collaborations, present other contemporary artist's work that addresses similar methodology, and discuss the possibilities of cross-disciplinary work within university environments. Panel will also discuss the possibilities of developing hybrid curriculums creating a bridge between art and science, and methods to achieve these collaborations.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
