"Conspirative Images"
Thursday, March 06 - 7:00PM to 8:30PM

Joan Fontcuberta's work has been exploring the conditions of truth in visual information. His projects subvert the canonic function of photographs as convincing documents in history, science, and mass communication. Sophisticated narrative constructions provide the pretext to debate issues such as credibility, veracity, or authenticity from epistemological and political perspectives. A special focus is done on "mockumentary" as criticism, parody and deconstruction of traditional documentary in both film and still photography. Other projects explore the conflicts of visual representation and the impact of digital imaginary onto collective conscience. As a common estrategy images deal with irony and humor and are pushed to conspire to fill the no man's land between the different regimes of truth.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
