Darlene Kaczmarczyk wtih Jennifer Steensma Hoag: "Automatic Photographers: They've Pushed the Button; it's Time to Learn the Rest"

Friday, March 08 - 4:00PM to 4:45PM
State Ballroom

In 1888 the Kodak camera was introduced with the tag line, "You push the button, we do the rest." By separating the act of taking photographs from making photographs, A. D. Coleman posits,Eastman permanently altered cultural assumptions regarding photography. Our presentation will survey the development and popularity of scene modes from the developers' and consumers' points of view. We'll discuss the impact this technology has on the expectations of our students, using the ubiquitous "food modeĀ• as a prime example of how photography is used and understood.
