Brandon is intrigued by things that provide us protection and comfort: cushions, batting, fabrics and the threads that connect them have surfaces that reveal their use. The artist manipulates them to create ephemeral forms that reflect the emotions and experiences that bring us to them in the first place. Strung up and barely stitched together, the forms are rendered static by the photograph that holds them up for our investigation; each image baring a physicality rich in metaphor. Brandon's work is influenced contemporary object and image-makers alike, and is grounded in the traditions of the still life and assemblage.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
