Samizay's work offers an intimate look at the personal and psychological space of a woman faced with cultural constraints and social expectations. Many of her works place the viewer in a voyeuristic position-they are able to see nearly everything, yet are still outsiders. However, the characters' hidden faces deny the viewer of fully exploiting this intimate female experience. In earlier pieces the central character is immobilized by cultural and gendered expectations. Later works explore release as a necessary step to freedom, thereby shifting the setting from a closed domestic space to the expanse of the open landscape.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
