Digital Photography (1.0) has largely replicated and replaced traditional film based photography with the same limitations inherent in isolated and disconnected image making. Yet technology and popular culture has already moved far beyond just using Photoshop and the DSLR. The photographic image, which had often existed outside and separate from the world of text and language, has now become the primary mode of visual communication within a world of fully integrated social networking. Photographic artists must now come to grips with the fact that EVERYONE has a networked camera in their pocket and - this time - everyone else knows exactly just what to do with it.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
