Acts of Love relies on the duality inherent in the term "act," which means, straightforwardly, a thing done, while simultaneously possessing the potential as pretense. Work that is at its core autobiographical stands to represent much more than personal experience. The implications of our perceptions and manifestations of intimate acts are fueled by both biological drives and sociological constructs. But how can we delineate these two forces? Or can we? Through materials specific to the questions driving them, this investigation has led Neils further from the traditional photograph than she ever dreamt she'd venture.
