Maisel will present his body of work, A More Open Place, which examines the role of photography within the context of Facebook, as a stepping stone to touch upon other artists working with digital media to address issues of voyeurism, identity, consumption, and connection. The work of artists Jon Rafman, Doug Rickard, and Michael Wolf will be presented in regards to their respective uses of Google Street View, as well as the work by Penelope Umbrico, Daniel Gordon, among others. He will also discuss the MFA program at CCA and his development there.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
