"Walker Evans's Racial Mirror: White Identity in Photographs of African Americans"
Joel Eisinger teaches art history at the University of Minnesota,
Morris. He is completing a book on photography and white
racial identity in the United States from 1890 to 1990. His first
book, Trace and Transformation, dealt with modernist photographic
criticism. From 2000 to 2004, Eisinger was editor of exposure.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
