The result is a wash: rather than making America more Christian,
the mega churches have simply succeeded in making Christianity
more American.
-The Economist
"Eleven Mega Churches" is a series of gathered satellite imagery
questioning access and diversity; land-use and the automobile;
and the formation of isolated communal brands. It questions the
impact of the church as a building and an institution alongside
its implied and actual purposes. These images depict sprawling
parking lots, cul-de-sac laden homogenous housing and swimming
pools, all icons of a distinctly American and more distinctly
middle class suburban landscape.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
