I have photographed at the University of Washington Prosthetic
Orthotic clinic, as well as in clinics in Cambodia, Lao, and Thailand.
The images capture and isolate moments of the prosthetic/
orthotic process. For my Imagemaker presentation I will incorporate
the different voices of people I've encountered through
this project alongside my writing and photographs, allowing them
to intertwine, point to common experiences, and open up the
images to different readings and different trajectories. Appropriate
to the theme of diversity, I am interested in contributing to
a greater understanding of the experience of the disabled and
toward the cultural acceptance of a broader spectrum of body
types.
