Meet the presenters of SPE’s 2027 Annual Conference! We’re excited to introduce Eliza Gregory, presenting “Art in the Floodplain: Students Reimagine Relationships to Land (and Pictures)” “What happens when the floodplain is allowed to function? Fish return and flourish, ducks feed, a dynamic ecosystem repairs itself, and the Pacific Flyway inspires awe in anyone who looks up.” About the Presenter Eliza Gregory is a social practice artist and a photographer. Her work focuses on identity, relationships, and connections between people and places. She builds complex project structures that unfold over time to reveal compassion, insight and new social forms. Her current project, [Placeholder], about repairing ruptured relationships to land, has invited her students into collaborative dialogues and collaborative art-making since 2019. She brings curatorial strategies, writing, audio, film, research, and relationship-building into her work. She runs a collaborative storytelling studio called Floodplain Projects. Join us at the 2027 SPE Annual Conference to hear Eliza explore collaborative art-making, environmental justice, and how photography education can help students reimagine their relationships to land and community.
