about

Matt Storm is a photo-based artist, making photographs, performances, installations and sculptures in Washington, DC. Storm's work engages with the theme of identity, and the question "who are we, and how do we know?" He approaches this question through self-portraiture, and visual topics including transgender and queer issues, family, and community.

Storm has had solo shows in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Washington, DC, and has participated in group shows in New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Vermont.

Storm grew up in Princeton, NJ. He attended Dartmouth College, and majored in Studio Art, and received the Perspectives on Design Award, given to the top graduating studio art major(s). He also transitioned to living as a transgender man during this time. Storm has interned at the Marpha Foundation in Nepal, has worked as a full-time teaching assistant and instructor for Dartmouth College's art department, and has been an intern captain at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA.

Storm is a member of the leadership team of the LGBTQ Caucus of the Society for Photographic Education.
