about
Jen Perena is an artist and arts educator primarily practicing historic and alternative photographic processes. Her education is informal, accrued through decades of classes and a 6-month residency at Flower City Arts Center in Rochester, NY, during which she produced a large volume of kallitype prints. She is a 'process person' and enjoys the hand-crafted nature of making a print and then embellishing it with watercolor, embroidery, or fabric applique to achieve a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art. Her work has been published in 'The Painted Photograph,' 'The Hand Magazine,' 'Obscura Craft Magazine,' 'Lake Affect Magazine,' and various publications by AlternativePhotography.com including 'Arts & Artists, Edition 2' and 'Pure Inspiration.' Jen is the founder and organizer of the 'Alternate Paths' group photo exhibit showcasing artists working in alternative and historic photo processes, now in it's 5th year. Jen is currently teaching the Anthotype and Kallitype processes at Flower City Arts Center. You can see more of her work on her website https://kallitypegirl.com.
