Disillusion

Disillusion is an ongoing body of work consisting of black and white photographs that illustrate the confusion between reality and illusion, past and present, dream states and consciousness. Using the familiar imagery of landscapes, often combined into double exposures, the viewer is invited to embark on a challenge of understanding. Each image is meant to invoke questions of knowing, questions about meaning, reality, space, history, and even memory. Viewers are invited to make sense of the intentionally ambiguous imagery on their own terms, accessing their individual memories and histories to create unique understandings. For me, this work is a depiction of my subconscious self, at times chaotic though also peaceful, offering a reprieve from daily anxieties.
