about

The characters I develop for my video work and photographs are a product of my life experiences and psyche, brought about by the contrast between my upbringing in Mexico and background in the entertainment industry, and my life here in the United States as a Caucasian Mexican immigrant.
In these performances I use humor and wit to look at the machinations of American culture as both an insider and outsider, taking on topics such as immigration, racism, identity, censorship, politics, and language. My video work utilizes juxtaposition to examine the spaces between cultures, to acknowledge power and inequity, and to create absurdist contemporary mashups of entertainment, politics, and history.
