WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Do you know where you're going next with your photography––or where it's taking you? This intensive weekend workshop will help photographers begin to understand their own distinct way of seeing the world, and introduce participants to the art of editing and sequencing their photographs intuitively. It will also help photographers figure out their next step photographically––from deepening their own unique vision to the process of discovering and making a long-term project that they're passionate about. A workshop for both serious amateurs and professionals, for both university photography students and seasoned fine art and documentary photographers, it will taught by Alex and Rebecca, a creative team who often edit projects, exhibitions, and books together––including their recently reissued, Violet Isle: A Duet of Photographs from Cuba, which was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and their most recent book, Slant Rhymes. This workshop will include a group editing exercise, as well as an individual editing assignment, tailored to each participant.
NOTE: This is a workshop for photographers who collaborate with the world, not for those who dramatically alter their photographs digitally.

ABOUT ALEX WEBB & REBECCA NORRIS WEBB
Alex Webb has published 16 photography books, including The Suffering of Light, a survey book of 30 years of his color photographs. He's exhibited at museums worldwide including the Whitney Museum of American Art, N.Y., the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A Magnum Photos member since 1979, his work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, and other publications. He has received numerous awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007. His most recent books are La Calle: Photographs from Mexico and the collaborative book Slant Rhymes with Rebecca Norris Webb. Alex is represented by Stephen Bulger Gallery, Toronto.

Originally a poet, Rebecca Norris Webb often interweaves her text and photographs in her six books, most notably with her monograph, My Dakota—an elegy for her brother who died unexpectedly—with a solo exhibition of the work at The Cleveland Museum of Art in 2015. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, and is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Cleveland Museum of Art, and George Eastman Museum, Rochester, N.Y. A new edition of Violet Isle: A Duet of Photographs from Cuba (with Alex Webb) will be published in early 2018. Rebecca is represented by Ricco/Maresca Gallery, New York.
