Traditional Wet Darkroom and Twenty-first Century Students

Has there been an increased interest in photography that has resulted in a boom or a bust for the wet darkroom? How does rigorous darkroom printing coincide with the goals for perfectionism in the new millennium students? What are pedagogical strategies that strengthen the traditional darkroom? Nationally there are mixed messages with some schools witnessing huge demands for traditional darkroom while other schools have eliminated the program. Photography professors are invited to discuss the status of the traditional darkroom at their institution in relation to the students' demand for the course and the outcomes.Session chair: Cherl Harrison, High Point University.
