Saturday, October 24 - 9:00AM to 10:45PM
Outside WCAD
In this hands-on workshop, the presenter will demonstrate contemporary approaches to making tintype portraits on location. After a brief discussion of the history of the tintype process and an overview of how tintypes are made, the presenter will demonstrate the process of creating portraits using a 4x5 camera.
Following the demonstration, participants will be invited to make tintype portraits of each other using a 4x5 camera. The workshop will provide an opportunity to experience this historic photographic process in a contemporary setting and explore the unique qualities of tintype portraiture. Participants are encouraged to engage with the process, experiment with making portraits, and learn more about the possibilities of working with this distinctive photographic medium.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
Please join the conversation.
