Artist Talk: Touching Pictures, Kristine Thompson, Louisiana State University
Touching Pictures will share two bodies of work by artist Kristine Thompson. The first series, Images Seen to Images Felt, is a series of photograms made by pressing light-sensitive gelatin silver print paper up to a laptop screen in the darkroom. Images are collected from a range of online news sources and reflect the turbulence in our world. The second series, Difficult Things Seen Cannot Be Unseen, connects emotional remanences through the photographic reflections in a subject's eye. Both bodies of work explore the question how photographs might elicit empathy.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
