Tema Stauffer will present an artist talk focusing on her recent body of work exploring the community, culture, landscape and architecture of one of the oldest regions in the country. Located on the shores of the upper Hudson River, Hudson was the first city chartered in the United States in 1785 and developed rapidly as a thriving whaling and merchant seaport. UPSTATE, a forthcoming hard cover book with thirty-three color photographs and two essays published by Daylight Books, captures sublime elements, while also recording the imprint of American industrial and agricultural history and shifting economic realities on settings throughout this region.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
