In an increasingly unstable world, we often come together in grief seeking connection, even with strangers, to acknowledge our human suffering. In Saved: Objects of the Dead, we explore the universality of how objects embody the otherwise abstract emotions of loss and memory. Pairing photography and prose, we chronicle the lives, deaths, and relationships of individuals whose objects are imbued with emotional and physical senses, then kept by others as an affirmation of their former lives. This presentation will address how we conceived the project and how we work from different coasts as collaborators, both artistically and with a contributing public.
