Paria Ahmadi is an Iranian artist based in New York.
Her practice is an ongoing attempt to rethinking borders and the politics of memory, archive, and communication, drawing on the poetics of marks, language, and textures in time. Through defining atonal compositions of information and marks on time, monotonous tasks/practices, challenging systems of knowledge, and offering silence as a space for poetic inquiries she produces situations that require an act of imagination, exchange of time, sensitivity, and ultimately empathy to be experienced.
She received a BFA in photography from Art University of Tehran in 2021 and MFA in photography from Parsons School of Design at The New School in 2023. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally including in the United States, Iran, Germany, Canada and China. Alongside her practice, she often collaborates with her contemporary writers and musicians resulting in performance and lectures.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
