I want to walk with you, holding your hand, through photographic scenes describing elements missing from what you see, sense, hear, and taste. Residual objects, from images created during my photographic encounters with other artists, friends, colleagues, and waiters. My work throughout the last ten years has been primarily in private environments: forests, art residencies, airbnbs, hotel rooms, and art studios.— experimenting with intimacy, labor, immigration, language, and family heritage. I will use my voice through a PA system and a synthesizer, recreating the sounds of my heart and the story you can't see. Using a projector, I will choose a scene containing scanned images of black and white negatives depicting a performative act of my shared story. There will be performance, sound, and visual coming together in the presentation. Other technicalities include three LED lights pointing upward towards the ceiling. I am open to suggestions and can adapt to the environment and possibilities of the conference.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
