Ricky Weaver and Avery Williamson's work excavates historical and contemporary notions of archive to call into question possibilities of other worlds. These artists' practices prioritize how the ontology of the image materializes within a spatiotemporal collapse. Multisensory renderings of this work serve to posture the body a central mechanism for storing, downloading and transferring archives. Separately they reimagine gestures of the everyday as transportation rituals, negro spirituals, ways to render oneself unseen, outsmarting historical and contemporary surveillance systems. This dialogic will serve as a space to think through a semiotic approach to image making as a quantum world building tool.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
