2014 SPE Mid-Atlantic Honored Educator, Introduced by Dylan Vitone
Saturday, November 08 - 5:30PM to 6:30PM
Marriott, Commonwealth Ballroom
In accepting her honor Professor Brodsky will share some thoughts on photography and community:
"I consider myself 'experienced' in photography-I've been teaching photography at university level for over three decades and I am an active photographer. Often, we experience photographs in a solitary way. We read news articles with accompanying photographs on screen and in print alone; we look at books of fine art photographs alone, and we look at photos on our digital devices-alone, to name just a few examples. But, when we take a class, there is a community aspect to the medium. I believe strongly in the dialogue that surrounds images and the connections made with others in the healthy critique setting of the classroom, and when photographs are seen in the world. In this talk I will focus on some of my students' work as well as my own, and the community that forms around images."
More on Professor Brodsky's distinguished artistic accomplishments and exceptional contributions to photographic education can be found on her Speaker's Profile.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
